Austria's pre-eminent white grape variety has found a new home in Australia.
First produced in 2009, this was Australia's first ever Grüner Veltliner. Lark HIll were also pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in Australia, and they have been certified since 2006. This also means minimal sulphur, and only at bottling time.
Grüner Veltliner seems to be made in two distinct styles: grassy, herbal and peppery and also rich, oily and full. The former style works best with food, and this is where Lark Hill's wine sits.
"With flavours of cut herbs, ripe fig and white pepper, fine texture and mineral acidity, our GV is a delicious food friendly wine. It has also demonstrated a capacity to develop wonderful depth and complexity with age."
