There are four vineyards in the Tractor portfolio, all about ten minutes from each other (by tractor of course). They all have their individual characteristics, depending on varietal, vintage and whatever the winemaker does - and since all four produce both pinot noir and chardonnay, it makes for some really interesting comparisons.

The Judd Vineyard is west facing on Main Ridge, so late morning and full afternoon sun. At up to 200m altitude, there's always plenty of grapefruit acidity. Hence more than a third of the wine went through malolactic to soften the edge and add that lovely creaminess. The oak is moderate too, with just 25% new barrels making their presence felt and no more. Exactly how it should be!

"Enticing notes of grapefruit and white flower build this fine structured wine filled with poise and precision. Green apple crunch leads into the crisp and clean finish that lingers with persistence displaying incredible length and purity."

This will drink beautifully for ten years. Sure, its lovely now - but keep a few back until mid-decade when the wine will show its hidden depths.
